Settlement & Relocation

The late Kgoshi Makgoba had two daughters, Mmamalesel and Mmatema. Mmatema, the elder sister, did not marry but stayed to succeed her father.

When the family left Makgobaskloof, they settled in Ga Shiloane (Mentz) in the Mamabolo area. Later they moved to a place called Lwalale-Meetse and then settled in Ga-Molepo (Sekutu). During their stay here, they began negotiations for the reinstatement of their bokgoshi. An agreement was reached with the then Commissioner of Pietersburg to settle them on a farm called Diphiring (Klipspruit). The documents relating to this agreement have apparently been lost in Molepo’s office. Kgoshigadi Mmatema died in Ga Molepo in 1970. She was buried at Ga-Mmamoriri in the Makgobaskloof ancestral cemetery.
